The aim of the Center for Qualitative Research in Psychology and Psychosocial Well-being is to support further development and enhancement of qualitative research methods in Psychology and related disciplines as well as applied fields such as counseling, psychotherapy, education, health and work.  

The main objectives of the Center are:

  • To study the epistemological, ontological, methodological and ethical grounds or presuppositions of qualitative research.
  • To organise and deliver trainings in the various qualitative approaches (eg. hermeneutic, phenomenological, ethnographic, narrative, constructivist, socio-cultural, etc) developed in the context of psychology and in relevant scientific disciplines. 
  • To contribute in the education of undergraduate, postgraduate, Ph.D. students as well as young scholars in the qualitative research paradigm. 
  • To train mental health and other practitioners in the qualitative research methods. 
    • To offer educational and training opportunities through lectures, seminars, workshops, symposia and conferences, as well as to create scientific and teaching materials. 
    • To conduct qualitative research, working together with the community (eg. in schools, in the therapeutic fields), with the aim to connect research and practice in the field of mental health and other relevant scientific fields.  
    • To cooperate scientifically with research groups, research centers and institutes, as well as similar institutions and organisations in Greece and abroad. 
    • To advance the interdisciplinary cooperation and dialogue between different scientific fields (eg. psychology, philosophy, social anthropology, sociology, educational sciences, health sciences, etc) in qualitative research issues.
    • To advance the dialogue concerning mixed methods of research (i.e. the combination of qualitative and quantitative methods)

The center is intended as a teaching and research unit for the students of the Postgraduate Master's Degree “Applied Psychology for Children and Adolescents”, or the Postgraduate Master's Degree “Professional Counseling and Career Guidance”, as well as for other relevant postgraduate and Ph.D. degrees in Greece and abroad. For this purpose, training seminars and workshops can be provided in the Greek and English language.
